And God said, Let there be an expanse…

Gen. 1:6

GOD’S CREATION

Lesson 3

AIR

Scripture Reference:

Gen. 1:6-8:
6 And God said, Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.
7 And God made the expanse and separated the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse, and it was so.
8 And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.

Burden:

On the second day God made the air (the “expanse in the midst of the waters”). God was preparing the earth for His great plan. Air is so important for all living things—plants, animals, and people. Without air, nothing could live. Only the earth has just the right air for people and other living things. God was preparing the earth for man and all other living things.

Lesson:

  1. 1. Review the previous lesson on “Light.” After God created the light, the next thing He did was make the sky (air).
  2. Read the memory verse. God made the sky. The sky is simply the air. The air is so important for man and all living things. Encourage discussion by asking questions such as: Why do we need air? Why do insects and birds need air?
  3. Only the earth has just the right air for plants, animals, and people. When God created the air, He was getting the earth ready for all living things, especially for Man. On the second day God made the air. God was restoring the earth for His great plan.
