Home Meetings
In the first century the believers gathered day by day and house to house.
And day by day, continuing steadfastly with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house, they partook of food with exultation and simplicity of heart,- Acts 2:46
In order to find the supply for the Christian journey the early believers moved from the synagogues to the homes of the believers. This became the hallmark of the early church. Day by day and house to house. Cornelius gathered in his home “together his relatives and intimate friends” to hear the word of God. Peter, once released from prison by an angel, went straight to the home of a family he was related to as they were “assembled together and praying” for him. Acts end with Paul, under house arrest in Rome in his own rented dwelling, “welcoming all those who came to him, proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching the things concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness, unhindered.”
